What’s For Dinner?

B and I have always had some sort of meal plan for dinners. But over the last few years, we’ve (read: she’s) gotten it down to a science.

Tonight it was Instant Pot Chicken Tortilla Soup.

Very simply, B comes up with a weekly meal plan that we use for the entire month, shops for the groceries every week, and I cook the meals.

Yep. That means that I know every Tuesday for the rest of the month we are having Tortilla Soup (or whatever is on the menu).

But Tim, don’t you get tired of having the same thing week after week?

You would think so, but we rarely keep making something we don’t actually like. And if the majority of the family vetoes the recipe, we find something else.

And from my perspective, I get a chance to cook the same meal around four times in the month, and by the end, I’m pretty proficient.

After the month is done, another menu is made and the cycle is renewed.

We save a ton of time and energy operating this way.

How do you normally plan your meals for the week/month?

That’s a good approach. When we’re in a groove, ours is similar where Kelly plans out two weeks at a time and then we just repeat that every two weeks.

Either way, having some kind of system in place makes it SO much easier to stay consistent.
