Writing What I Want

I’m taking the advice of my friend Mickey.

If anything, the events of the last few months after the election proved to me that the more you control the content you produce, the better.

Which got me thinking, “I should finally dust off my personal blog and start writing what I want to write about.”

That is not to say that I don’t have an opportunity to write about things that I love. I am literally in my dream job. But I often hesitate to write about music, faith, politics, family, or other interests like running, reading, and cooking.

But why should you care? Well, here is the great thing. You don’t have to. This blog is for me. And sure, if you like how I write, then maybe you’ll want to hire me to write something for you (non-education related – see dream job).

When I was a struggling musician, I practiced all the time. I played in bands. I thought about crafting songs and creating.

Now that I am in the second half of my life, I realize that writing is fulfilling a creative need as music did before. And I shouldn’t ignore that.
